Abstract

This thesis presents two contributions. Firstly, we present a verifiable postal voting protocol and its security proof. Secondly, we present a novel analysis method for probabilistic protocols. Although widely used in practice, postal voting is left behind in the research into voting security, particularly when compared with electronic voting. The key security properties – vote secrecy and the ballot integrity – are not guaranteed by the protocols of the literature. Indeed, we illustrate vulnerabilities through a series of generic attacks applicable to various systems.
