BIOSE - Recrutement

Applying for a thesis

At the BioSe Doctoral School, all thesis candidates must present their thesis project orally to a panel. Candidates must present their main Master’s 2 results, substantiate their thesis proposal and prepare a diagram of the various stages.
All theses must be funded by at least minimum wage.
Further information on this hearing is provided in the BioSE Doctoral School’s internal regulations.
Students who wish to write a thesis must approach a contracted research team within the Doctoral School, which may possibly propose a subject to them.

Candidates who have not applied for a PhD contract, LUE contract or regional grant must submit their thesis proposal to the Doctoral School Board. Hearings will be held preferably on Thursday afternoons, once or twice a month. The presentation format is that used for the PhD contract application process. The 30-minute presentation should therefore be organised according to the following outline:

  • a 13-minute oral presentation during which candidates will briefly present their CV and Master's work, followed by their thesis proposal.
  • a 17-minute discussion with the rapporteurs and other members of the jury.

It is strongly recommended that the Supervisor(s) be present.

The following documents must be completed and sent via email to the Doctoral School's educational manager at least ten days prior to the date of the hearing: helene.primerano@univ-lorraine.fr
  • oraux1ereA.docx
  • thesis title + proposal
  • Master’s 2 certificate
  • Master’s 2 transcript
  • Evidence of funding of the PhD for three years
