Doctoral School support
Should you need to travel to do research in a specialised environment (archives, field study, etc.), or participate in an symposium important to your research, it is possible to get support from your Doctoral School.
To get such support, you need to:
1- complete a document that presents your request
2- propose a provisional budget and a short scientific argument
The request must be approved by your laboratory, which contributes up to 50% of the funding. Under this measure and up to 500 euros per person, the Doctoral School will co-finance the trip.
Two calls are launched per year (mailings from Ms Meziani), one at the beginning of the calendar year, the other in the middle of the calendar year.
Documents comprising the mobility assistance file:
- The lab/Doctoral School funding request form
- The mission order request form
- Agent creation form (to be provided only if the PhD student has never travelled through the University)
Each year, the Doctoral School offers assistance from 1000 to 1500 euros for publication of theses.
Such publication support applies to theses defended between June 30th, N-2, and January 31th, N, and is awarded to the best applications submitted to the Board.
Doctors are invited to submit their applications to Aude Meziani (aude.meziani@univ-lorraine.fr) for the call sent in December.
Main assessment criteria:
- Only theses defended during the previous calendar year will be considered
- The thesis has to be connected to key words and scope of work (interaction, civilization, imagination and interculturality) of the Doctoral School
- The thesis’ scientific contribution
- Innovative scope of methods
- Writing quality
- Possible transposition of the thesis
Documents to be attached to the application:
- Signature of the Director of the research unit in which the thesis was produced and defended
- Financing plan, with a table presenting expenditure and income in order to set a balanced budget
- If the thesis is to be reformulated for publication, is the candidate certain that the publication will be completed within the year?
- Letter from the publisher
We draw your attention to the fact that such assistance is granted for year N+1, and that your thesis must therefore be published during that year (with presentation of the publisher's invoice by November 1st at the latest, in order to comply with accounting rules) in the absence of this invoice, support cannot be continued.

You have a research project? You want to found a journal, found a junior laboratory, organise a study day or a conference (which involves two research units of our Doctoral School)?
Send us a request including the following documents for consideration by the Board:
- a letter explaining the project
- an estimate (if possible)
- a provisional budget for financing the event
- a list of speakers at the event.
Laptop loan
Has your computer suddenly started acting up? The Doctoral School will lend you a laptop, for a deposit.
